All sites for this contract were in very remote areas so the planning and logistics for delivery of the steel bridge beams and concrete deck panels had its challenges.
Through consultation and preplanning with the subcontractors and transport companies we prioritised and ensured we were able to get the bridge elements to site without complication. Access also proved challenging for the piling works. With no access across Goolengook River until that bridge was built, the piling rig had to track 7km into the Bee Tree Site.
Ground conditions encountered also proved difficult for the bored piles as the presence of silty materials on top of granite material and ground water, required the installation of temporary casings and the piles had to be poured using a “tremmie” method.
This project was a critical and successful link in restoring emergency & recreational access to the area.
